Last week I went to a weeklong yoga intensive with Desiree Rumbaugh, who is a world-renowned Certified Anusara Yoga teacher. Here she is assisting me into this Level III backbend called Viparita Slabhasana prep.
It is MUCH harder than it looks since the bend can’t come from the neck or it wouldn’t be safe and it can’t come from the lower back since that and the legs are straight – the bend has to come from the upper back which doesn’t want to move very much!
